Issue:
I need to install AppsAnywhere to access College of Charleston-provided software.
Environment:
MacOS
AppsAnywhere
Resolution:
Instead of installing apps on each and every machine, AppsAnywhere allows applications to be delivered to students, faculty and staff on-demand through an app store-style platform, the AppsAnywhere Application Catalog. After launching applications from the Application Catalog, they are loaded and installed on the system and displayed in the Cloudpaging Player.
With the Mac experience you will see three delivery methods:
- Visit a website
- Download to your local machine
- Launch Remote to run virtually on a server
- Launch the app virtually In-Browser
Mac Install
Watch this 3 minute video or follow the steps below.
1. Open a web browser and navigate to https://appsanywhere.cofc.edu.
2. At the login screen, enter your College of Charleston credentials and click Sign In.

Note: Depending on your system, you may first receive the prompt below. instead. Again, select the "First time" option.

4. The download will start automatically. Go through a normal install process. When you see the AppsAnywhere start screen, click Done on the install screen.

You will be automatically sent back to the AppsAnywhere Application Catalog.
5. When prompted, select Open AppsAnywhere.

Note: During this process, AppsAnywhere will be attempting to Validate you as an authorized user. Should you see the top banner turn from blue to red and the text Validation Failed, just click Retry to validate yourself.
6. Scroll over an app you want to use and click the green button. Depending on the application's delivery method, you may see:

Launch Remote will provide the most seemless experience without a download.
7. Select Remote and then Open AppsAnywhere.

The app will now launch and you can use it as if it was installed on your computer. Note: If you pull the app window aside, you will see that the Clougpaging Player is in the background and your app has the status of Running.

8. When you are finised with the application, save you work (it will be saved locally) and X-out as you would normally. You will see the Cloudpaging Player now shows the status for your app as Ready.

Continue to access the AppsAnywhere Application Catalog to re-launch apps you have used or for future applications.
