How can I check a paper in Turnitin without using OAKS?

Tags Turnitin

I want to check the originality of a student paper with Turnitin that was not submitted to the Assignements/Dropbox in OAKS

You must access Turnitin via OAKS prior to logging in outside of OAKS. There is a ‘hand-shake’ between OAKS and the Turnitin software that activate your account and validate you as an authorized user. You will find that this is the case with many of our integrated tools.

You can log into Turnitin outside of OAKS with your CofC email. If this is the first time you have gone in outside of OAKS you will have to use the ‘forgot your password’ to set up a password for access.

Once you are logged into Turnitin you will see your Dashboard listing all your courses. You can submit a students paper to the associated course OR you can  “+Add Class” to do an upload.

If you want to submit to a particular course and assignment

  1. Click on the Course Name
  2. Find the assignment you would like to submit the paper to
  3. To the far right of the row next to the assignment name click on the drop down menu titled More Actions, Select Submit
  4. You can either find the students name under the Author drop down menu or select Non-enrolled student. If you would like to submit this without associating it with a student, choose Non-enrolled student and enter a fake first and last name for this submission
  5. At the bottom or the page choose where you want to upload from, select the file, then Upload
  6. You will be taken to a page that will provide you information on the submission and a Similarity Report

You can create a ‘class’  where you can ‘Add Assignments’ in there for screening.

  1. From the Main Dashboard page, click on green + Add Class button on the top right
  2. Enter some class information. You can either make up a fake course or create a course you can use in the future for instance of checking students papers anonymously. Ex) Anonymous Student Paper Check. You must enter information for spaces indicated with a *red asterisk. You can use "None" for Enrollment Key
  3. Once the course is created, follow the instructions above in the "If you want to submit to a particular course and assignment" section.
