How do I download and install the Respondus LockDown Browser?




View the quick Introduction to Respondus LockDown Browser for Students video to learn more about the LockDown browser and how it functions. Respondus now supports Chromebooks via an extension, as well as iPads (if your professor set it up that way).

To access the Respondus LockDown Browser installation link, follow the instructions below:

  1. Navigate to OAKS and access your course.
  2. Select the quiz that requires you to use the Respondus LockDown Browser (see screenshot below).

  3. On the Quiz Summary/Details page, select the Download and install the latest version of LockDown Browser link.

  4. ​​​​​Follow the onscreen instructions, click Install Now (check the system requirements for the latest version). By default, your device will select the appropriate operating system version (example in screenshot: Version, System Mac OS X 10.15, and Download size. 82.0MB).

For iPads (iOS 11 or higher)

  • Download and install the LockDown Browser app from the Apple App Store on the iPad.

            For MacOS devices

  • Locate the Zip file in your downloads folder and double click the .zip file to extract the folder contents.
  • Click the .pkg file to begin the installation process.
  • Follow the Install Respondus LockDown Browser instructions. ​​​​​​

            For Windows devices

  • Locate the .exe file in your downloads folder and double click to start the InstallShield installation process.
  • Complete all of the installation instructions.

     5. Once the browser has been installed onto your device, open the browser from the desktop application.

     6. Sign-in with your CofC credentials and access the course and quiz.
