Customize MyPortal: Rearrange, Hide, or Unhide Tiles

How do I:

There are too many tiles. It is hard to find what I'm looking for. Can I change the way MyPortal looks?

How do I customize the MyPortal mobile app?

Can I remove a tile?

Can I add a tile?

 

Audience:

College of Charleston (CofC) faculty, staff, and students

 

Reason: 

MyPortal allows you to better enhance your experience by customizing various areas and functions of the app and web interface. The app uses tiles - icons that link to another app or campus service. The home screen personalization includes the ability to customize tile layout, moving, adding and selectively removing tiles. You can make the app your own - moving what’s important to you to the top of the screen and removing those tiles that may not apply or be necessary.

All MyPortal users can:

  •     Move and arrange tiles on their home screen
  •     Add and remove selected tiles from their home screen
  •     Search and find new tiles (from those available to their specific role(s)) to enhance their home screen 

Any customizations you apply in the web app (myportal.cofc.edu) will not apply in the mobile app (iOS/Android). This allows you to create two customized experiences: one for web, one for mobile.

Move a Tile

  1. Tap Arrange
  2. Tap and hold the tile you would like to move
  3. Keep holding the tile for a second until you see the tile shake or wiggle, or until you feel a quick vibration from your phone
  4. Without letting go, drag the tile to where you would like it to be, and then let go
  5. Tap Done when finished

 

Remove a Tile

  1. Tap Arrange
  2. Tap the X in the upper right corner of the app you wish to remove from your view
  3. Tap Done when you are finished

 

Add a Tile

  1. Tap Arrange
  2. Tap in the Search area at the top of the app, and search for the name of the tile you would like to add
    • Tip: you can just start typing, and then back space what you typed to see all available tiles
  3. Tap the checkbox next to the app(s) you would like to add
    • The checkbox should be checked for it to be active on your home screen
  4. Tap Done when you are finished
