I Need to Reset My Password

Issue:

My password isn't working.

I forgot my password.

How can I reset my password?

 

Audience:

CofC faculty, staff, students, applicants, and alumni.

 

Environment:

Applies to systems that authenticate to Azure: MyCharleston, MyPortal, Office 365, Eduroam, CSAS (Scholarships), OAKS, etc.

Does not apply to Cmail for students. To reset your Cmail password, see Synchronize Your Cmail Password.

 

Resolution:

You can use Self Service Password Reset (SSPR) or your MyCharleston Secret Questions and Answers to reset your password. SSPR is the fastest and preferred way to reset your password across systems.

*Enter your full email address for the User ID. For recently accepted students without a CofC email, use your MyCharleston login (username) followed by @g.cofc.edu (USERNAME@g.cofc.edu). Locate Your MyCharleston Login Here.

All staff, faculty and students can use this method to reset their password, provided that they have registered their account. Using this method immediately removes intruder detection locks from your account, and changes your password across all related systems.

MyCharleston Secret Questions and Answers

*Enter your MyCharleston Login as the username. Locate Your MyCharleston Login Here.

Anyone with a MyCharleston account may use the MyCharleston Secret Questions and Answers to reset their password. You are prompted to set up the answers to your secret questions the first time you log into MyCharleston. If your account is expired, locked, or disabled due to security reasons, you will not be able to reset your password using this method. Instead, contact IT Service Desk for assistance. See the "Still Need Assistance?" section below.

 

The above information lists options to reset your password if you do not know it. If you do know your password and just want to change it, even more options are available for you. See the article I want to change my password for more details.

Contact the IT Service Desk for help if you are unable to reset your own password. You can email, start a chat, or call.

Be prepared to provide the following information:

  1. Your full name on record
  2. Your CWID (Locate Your CWID Here)
  3. Your date of birth
  4. The last 4 digits of your SSN (International Students who do not have a social security number will need to supply their Passport ID number instead)
