Updating the Site Index

What is the site index?

The CofC Site Index is an alphabetical listing of public-facing CofC websites.

How to Update the Index

  1. First and foremost, you need access to Cascade CMS
  2. You also need access to the www.cofc.edu site once you are logged into Cascade. Within that site, you need write access to the siteindex/data file.
  3. Within the www.cofc.edu site, navigate (on the left side) to the siteindex folder.
  4. Expand that folder and edit the data file.
  5. If you are editing an existing item already listed in the site index:
    1. Use CTRL+F to search for that item in the page when editing the data file.
    2. Edit the item as desired (Name & URL).
  6. If you are adding a new item to the site index:
    1. Scroll to the item that should be above the new item in alphabetical order. Example, if adding "Bookstore", you would scroll to the item starting with B that should come before Bookstore in alphabetical order.
    2. On that item, select the plus button to add a new item directly below.
    3. Give your new item a Name and URL.
  7. If you are deleting an item from the site index:
    1. Use CTRL+F to search for that item in the page when editing the data file.
    2. Click the remove icon on the top right of the item.
  8. Submit your changes.
  9. Publish.
