Cmail accounts for Students and Alumni

Once you (students) make all required deposits, you will receive a new username (letters, not numbers) and email address (Cmail account). The Cmail account will be in the format of username@g.cofc.edu. There is no further action needed to set up or create the account. You only need to log into the account and accept the terms of agreement.

To Log Into Cmail:

  1. Go to https://accounts.google.com
    • Tip, if you have a personal gmail account, it may automatically sign you in to the other account. To add your CofC account or to switch accounts, click the profile icon in the upper right corner (will show your profile picture, or your initials if no picture is available).
    • If you are signed into MyCharleston, you can get to the login site for Cmail by clicking the Cmail icon at the top of the page
  2. Enter your email address
    • Your Cmail address is your username followed by @g.cofc.edu. Example:  username@g.cofc.edu
    • If you do not know your username, use the online lookup tool to find out what it is: Locate Your Username
    • If your username is still your CWID, you do not have a Cmail address yet. You will be provided with a Cmail address after all required deposits are paid and processed through eBill
  3. The default password will be set as CWID+DOB+A! (Example: 00000000MMDDYYA!)
  4. Create a new password.
  5. Accept the terms of agreement.
  6. You will then be logged into your Cmail account!

Changing your Cougars password (password used for MyCharleston, MyPortal, Office 365, OAKS, etc.) does not reset your Cmail account password, but you can reset your Cmail password at any time to match your MyCharleston password. See Synchronize Your Cmail Password article for more information.
