Add/Update Cougar Alert Contact Information

Issue

I did not receive the last Cougar Alert.

How do I update my email or phone number for the Cougar Alert?

 

Environment

MyCharleston

Everbridge

Applies to students, faculty, and staff at College of Charleston

 

Cause

The College of Charleston has implemented Everbridge, a new technology platform ​​​​​​ for delivering Cougar Alert emergency notifications to students, faculty, staff, families, neighbors, visitors and others. It is important that your contact information is correct.

Resolution

To add or update the information for Cougar Alert

You can use MyCharleston or MyPortal.

 

MyCharleston

1. Open your web browser and go to https://my.cofc.edu

2. Log in to MyCharleston using your Cougars username and password

3. Once logged in, click on either the HomeMy Accounts, or Academic Services tab

4. Scroll down until you see the Cougar Alert widget

To update your email addresses

1. Click on the Update your Email Addresses for Cougar Alert link

2. Follow the instructions given and update your email addresses (Please note that the primary email on the account (the @cofc.edu or @g.cofc.edu College account) is the one that will be notified via email. However, since you can have two email addresses listed, you may want to consider adding a non-CofC email address.)

3. Click Submit

To update your phone numbers

1. Click on the Back to (tab chosen) link in the upper left-hand corner

2. Again scroll down until you see the Cougar Alert widget

3. Update your phone numbers by clicking the Update Your Phones for Cougar Alert link

4. Select a phone to update/delete or click the Insert a New Telephone Number Not Listed Above button, to insert a new phone number.

  • NOTE: The phone option listed as Cell Phone with Text is the primary one notified via text message, so it is recommended to only have one phone number listed as that type

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​5. Click Submit​​​​​​​

 

MyPortal

1.     Log into MyPortal  

2.     Click on the Personal Information tile 

3.     On the Profile Page, click on Personal Information 

4.     Review the contact information. If changes are needed, click on the words add new in the box 

5.     Make changes and click the add button to save.
