Upgrade
If the problem persists, you might try upgrading to Office 365 if using an older version of Office. You can check that by using the steps outlined on the Office support page - if you're using Office 2016 or below, you can can update. The IT Service Desk can assist remotely with this- you can use the ticket link below to submit a request.
If you'd like to try to do the uninstall/reinstall yourself, please proceed with the instructions below. NOTE: Office 365 is only available for install on machines running MacOS 10.12 and above. You can check your OS version by clicking on the apple icon from the top toolbar on your Mac, and then choosing About This Mac. If on a high enough version, please proceed to the steps below. If not, please upgrade your Mac to a new OS.
1. First, uninstall your current version of Office. Please note that un-installing your current Office version will delete any saved preferences/display settings, local copies of your email added in Outlook (not the email itself), etc. This process also can be timely- please allow 15-30 minutes each for both the uninstall and new Office 365 install.
2. Once uninstalled, Open Self Service from your Applications menu (choose Go from top toolbar and then Applications). Select the option for Microsoft from the left hand index of options.
3. Under the Microsoft Office 365 app, click Install. Once installed, you may be prompted to sign in with your @cofc.edu credentials to validate the license- this is OK. You may also need to add back your @cofc.edu email. Instructions on how to do that can be found in our knowledgebase.
