I Would Like to Change My Password

I know my password, but want to change it to something else.

How do I change my password?

Students, faculty, staff

College of Charleston Cougars Account

Applies to all systems that authenticate to Azure Active Directory: OAKS, Office 365, MyCharleston, Eduroam, Student Health Portal, Housing/Dining, campus computers, etc.

Note: Student Cmail does not use your Cougars account password. If you do not remember your Cmail password, use the Synchronize Your Cmail Password instructions instead.

You must know your current password in order to use the methods mentioned in this article. If you do not know your current password, view the I Need to Reset My Password article instead.

If you know your password, you may reset your cougars password from within Office 365 or from within MyCharleston using the instructions below.

Within Office 365

This is the preferred method to change your password if you are faculty, staff, or student. This will immediately reset your password for all systems related to your Office account (MyCharleston*, Eduroam, OAKS, computer logins, etc.)

  1. Log into your Office 365 account
  2. Click the Account icon in the upper right corner (may have your profile picture, or initials)
  3. Choose My Account
  4. Click Security & Privacy on the left
  5. Click Password from the right pane
  6. Enter your old password, and enter a new password twice
  7. Click Submit

To save time, here is the link that will take you to the same place to reset your password. You will still need to sign into your account.

*Retired Employees: Your Office 365 password and MyCharleston password may not be linked. Use the instructions above to reset your email password, but below to reset your MyCharleston password.

Within MyCharleston

You can also reset your password within MyCharleston.

  1. Log into MyCharleston
  2. Go to the My Accounts tab
  3. Click the Access My Account Preferences for MyCharleston link
  4. Create a new password and click Save in the lower right
  5. The MyCharleston password will sync back to the email (Office 365 email, not student Cmail) password and other system passwords, but it can take up to 30 minutes.
